Making Money on Youtube

Youtube.com is by far the biggest video sharing website on the planet. With millions of users and a worldwide audience, it's easy to see why some people wish to use this for financial gain. There are several ways i which you can make money via Youtube legitimately.

Youtube Partnership

The most obvious way to earn money through Youtube is to apply for partnership. Partnership with Youtube means that adverts will be displayed on your videos and YT will share their advertising revenue with you. Be warned however, it is very difficult to actually become partnered outright. First you must have thousands of views a week. Second you must post only content which belongs to yourself ( no music or video clips). Third, you must observer the Youtube terms of service impeccably. Even then you are not guaranteed partnership.  Getting partnership is tricky and you will have to be VERY patient for it to happen.

If you have a YT channel and you wish to apply for partnership, do so here: APPLY

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money via Youtube. Affiliate marketing is when you provide a link to a product. If someone clicks on that link and then buys that product, you will get a small share of the profit. Many sites such as Amazon.com have affiliate programs which are free and easy to sign up for. You generate the link through their site and then you post it in your video description. I personally do this with DVD and film reviews on one of my channels, but you could review any type of product and do the same.  Go HERE to check out Amazon's affiliate or associate program. I'll do a blog entry specifically about this soon, but it is quite easy to set up.

Donation Link

If you have a paypal account, you can take the link from this account and post it in your channel description. Remember though, this is not to beg. On my channel I just put that I will always provide what's there free of charge, but that if anyone wants to buy me a beer, here's a link to my paypal.

Kickstarter or Indiegogo

If you have a project that you would like to gain funding for, then your YT channel can be a great way to get the message out there. Remember, you are not begging for money. Kickstarter and Indiegogo allow people to    provide information about their projects, and give rewards to investors. This is not an arena to ask to be fed! Check out the linked websites above. More on this in another post.
